DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) - Dubuque County Sheriff Ken Runde has been nominated to be the U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Iowa.
Sen. Tom Harkin confirmed the nomination of Runde on Thursday.
County personnel director Mary Ann Sprecht says Runde notified the Board of Supervisors of the nomination on Thursday.
Runde has spent his entire 33 year-career in law enforcement with the Dubuque County sheriff's office, starting as a dispatcher and working his way up to sheriff.
Harkin says Runde also served in the U.S. Marines.
Runde was not immediately available for comment on Thursday.
