IROQUOIS, S.D. (AP) - The Iroquois school superintendent, Mark Sampson, says he plans to schedule a public meeting on the possibility his district might adopt a 4-day school week.
He says such a meeting likely would include administrators from districts that have adopted the shorter school week.
Sampson says he was asked to discuss the idea with teachers and staff and to set up a public meeting.
The superintendent says a Monday-through Thursday week would save some money and allow more time for teachers to get professional development. And, says Sampson, students struggling with their studies could come in on Fridays and get help from teachers.
The nearby Wolsey-Wessington district has adopted a 4-day week, starting this fall.
