NORFOLK. Neb. (KTIV) - The promise of hundreds of new jobs drew quite a crowd as the ribbon was cut on an expansion for Nucor Steel, in Norfolk, Nebraska.
The company unveiled its new detailing center, where workers customize architectural plans for their customers.
The president of Nucor's parent company, the Vulcraft Verco group, says this is the culmination of an idea that was hatched 4-years ago. "Dirk Pederson and Cindy Morrow both located here in Norfolk grabbed the ball and rolled up their sleeves and took what was a thought four short years ago and turned it into this facility that were standing here today."
Among the dignitary's on hand... Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman. Heineman says that while most of the nation is suffering from the economic downturn, company's like Nucor are expanding. And, it's a indication of how the "cornhusker state" is bucking the trend. "Nucor is an extraordinary company and they are committed to their employees with a no lay off policy," said Gov. Dave Heineman, (R) Nebraska. "This is great news for Norfolk, Northeast Nebraska and our entire state."
The new facility is the 4th operation that Nucor has in Norfolk.
