DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) - Five tattoo shops have opened since the Dubuque City Council dropped an ordinance last year that required a doctor to be present when a person gets a tattoo.
The change came after Jeff Davis, a Dubuque resident, asked the council to reexamine the law.
Davis has since relocated a Wisconsin tattoo shop he owned to Dubuque's Main Street. He's planning to join the Chamber of Commerce and take an active role in the revitalization of downtown.
Dubuque public health officials say no tattoo-related health problems have been reported.
