FREMONT, Neb. (AP) - William "Bill" Schurevich started his new hobby with a wing and a prayer.
Retired from the Air Force, Schurevich worked in radio maintenance.
Now he relaxes to the sounds of more 100 birds on an acreage just east of Fremont.
He says he sits and talks to his birds as, toward sunset, the quail start talking to each other, doves coo and peacocks roost.
He also gives a home to ducks, chickens, turkeys and ornamental pheasants.
Each day, the Schureviches collect about half a dozen large brown eggs and three or four smaller ones.
His interest in birds began early.
Growing up in Connecticut, he rescued robins that fell from nests.
