LENOX, Iowa (AP) - A high school baseball team in southwest Iowa has won 12 of its first 13 games despite a roster with just nine players.
The Lenox Tigers began the year with 12 players. One quit, and two others have been serving academic suspensions since June 1.
That left the Tigers with the minimum number of players needed to field a team. But Lenox has won 10 straight since June 1.
Lenox is currently ranked fourth in the state in Class 1A and is on track for its fourth straight trip to the state tournament.
Coach Steve Westphal says his kids have played above their usual level this season.
Help is on the way for Lenox. The two suspended players are scheduled to rejoin the team on Monday.
