PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Commission plans a public hearing on plans for the next mountain lion hunting season and several others when it meets Wednesday in Pierre.
GF&P staff has recommended a three-month season beginning Jan. 1, 2010 that would let hunters kill 35 lions or a subquota of 20 female lions. But the commission raised the quotas to 40 total lions or 25 female lions.
Besides the mountain lion season, the hearing will include finalization of the East River deer season, the antelope season and the early fall Canada goose hunting season.
