DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A Des Moines man convicted in the slayings of his common-law wife and a neighbor has been found dead in his prison cell.
State prison officials say 32-year-old Nath Inthaboun (IN'-thuh'-boon) was found early Thursday morning with strips of a bed sheet around his neck and tied to a shelf in his cell at the Iowa State Penitentiary in Fort Madison.
Inthaboun was convicted of 2 counts of first-degree murder and was serving two life sentences. During the Aug. 14, 2008, incident, police say he also held his three children hostage and shot at officers as they rushed the house to save the children.
He was found guilty in March and began his sentence April 21.
