Associated Press - July 4, 2009 3:34 PM ET

LATIMER, Iowa (AP) - Federal agencies are investigating a small plane crash in northern Iowa that left one person dead.

Killed in the crash was 44-year-old David Colglazier of Latimer. That's according to Sietsema Vogel Funeral Homes in Hampton.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating Friday's crash.

FAA spokeswoman Elizabeth Isham Cory says the plane went down just after 1:30 p.m. Friday near Latimer in Franklin County.

Cory says only one person was on board when the single-engine Cessna 172 crashed.

There is no immediate word on where the flight originated or its destination.
