NEAR VERDEL, Neb. (KTIV) - A plane that crashed, in northeast Nebraska, last week, had apparently lost engine power before crashing to the ground near the town of Verdel.
A preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board said pilot Richard Nielsen was trying to land the Beech T-C 45-J when the crash happened.
A passenger, 37-year-old Dan Johnson, of Lynch, died at the scene.
Nielsen suffered serious injuries.
Investigators also noted that Nielsen wasn't certified to fly the multi-engine plane.
