SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - The South Dakota Wildland Fire Suppression Division says a passing train probably caused six grass fires in the southwestern part of the state.
The fires were reported Friday near Ardmore, which is a mile across the South Dakota-Nebraska border along state Highway 71.
Units responded from the Hot Springs, Cascade, Minnekahta, Edgemont, Ardmore and Oelrichs Volunteer Fire Departments, Nebraska National Forest, State of South Dakota Wildland Fire, Fall River County Emergency Management, Fall River County Sheriff, and the Fall River County Highway Department.
The Duck Creek fire burned about 100 acres. No structures were threatened.
