KINGLSEY, Iowa (KTIV) - They rolled into Kingsley, Iowa after a long day on the road, all to bring awareness of our troops both past and present, and to honor a Siouxland hero.
The group Ride with American Pride planned the ride which took more than 100 participants from Alta through Fonda, Galva and Correctionville before making it to their final location in Kingsley.
Participants say today's ride was definitely worth the sunburn that came with it.
"We need to support our Troops, you know, these are the people out on the front lines, helping us keep the freedoms that we have. You know, we all enjoy riding up the roads without having to go through any barricades or having special passes," said one participant.
A ceremony was held to remember fallen soldiers from the area, including Specialist Chad Groepper who was killed in Iraq last year.
Groepper's Father and Sister say they think Chad would have really enjoyed the event.
"He'd says we're crazy," exclaimed his father.
"I was thinking the whole way from Correctionville to here, that Chad would be right here, but he'd probably be doing a wheely right past Matt," his sister Deana Erickson laughed.
Organizers with Ride with American Pride say this year's event went so well they plan on doing it every year from now on.
