MILFORD, Neb. (AP) - A Seward County official says the fatal shooting of a 10-year-old boy at an RV park near Milford appears to be an accident, and charges are not expected.
Chief Deputy Sheriff Daniel Hejl says the boy was shot Wednesday afternoon by a 13-year-old boy in a camper. Hejl says the older boy was showing the younger one his father's semiautomatic handgun when it went off. Officials say the 10-year-old boy was hit in his upper body.
Officials are not yet naming the victim or the shooter but say the boys have family working on an oil pipeline in the state.
The mother of another boy called 911 while the 13-year-old and another man at the site performed CPR. The 10-year-old was taken to a Seward hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy has been ordered.
