CENTRAL CITY, Neb. (AP) - An ethanol plant near Central City that sat idle during its parent company's bankruptcy is getting restarted under new owners.
The Central City plant and one in Ord were bought by Omaha-based Green Plains Renewable Energy Inc. last month. Previously, they were auctioned off as part of VeraSun Energy's bankruptcy.
Plant manager Dwayne Braun says right now his staff of 47 is going through training and buying supplies for production. The 100-million-gallon-a-year plant had been idle since last November.
Braun says the workers are eager to get started, but some of the farmers who sold the plant grain in the past have been skeptical.
Braun says the community should benefit as the plant resumes production.
