ROYAL, Iowa (KTIV) - An Idaho man has survived the crash of his crop-duster in a Clay County, Iowa field.
It happened about 8:30 Monday morning south of Royal, Iowa.
Investigators say Michael McDonald, of Pocatello, Idaho, was piloting the 1963 Piper Pawnee, which was owned by Terry Osher of Wallingford, Iowa.
The plane was leased by Hoppe Air Spray, LLC of Beaman, Iowa.
"Had an eye witness here that observed the plane flying west to east and went up over some high lines and then dropped back down, normal flight pattern and the next thing you know it went down in a corn field," said Clay County Sheriff Randy Krukow.
McDonald was spraying a fungicide mixture, but it wasn't a danger to anyone on the scene.
He was treated and released from a Spencer hospital.
