Friday
Carnival at Peaceful Place Inc., 900 W 21st Street, South Sioux City, Nebraska, from 5-7 p.m. All kinds of activities, including a dunk tank, cake walk, water balloon toss and more. All proceeds will go towards new playground equipment
"Side by Side by Sondheim" at the Morningside College Buhler Outdoor Performance Center, 7 p.m. The performance will feature music from West Side Story, Gypsy and Sweeney Todd.
Saturday
Onawa's 27th Annual Swap Meet Weekend, Monona County fairgrounds. There is free overnight camping, spectator admission and parking. For times call 712-423-2411.
"We got your back" back pack give-away at Cook Park, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Three on Three basketball tournament at 8:30. Superintendent Dr. Paul Gausman will speak at 10:30, with Harold Youtzy and Bobby Bates. Lunch at 11 a.m. and live entertaiment from then until 2 p.m. Back packs will be given away from 11:30 to 2 p.m.
4th Annual Hoopla celebrating Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools at 6 p.m. The celebration will begin with a Mass celebrated by Bishop R. Walker Nickless and local parish priests at 7pm. A family fun event with all kinds of activities and food.
Ag-Rail Heritage Festival at the Milwaukee Railroad Shops Historic District Saturday and Sunday. There will be field demonstrations and tractor exhibitions featuring oat threshing. Admission is $2. Kids under 12 are free with an adult admission.
Rhonda's Rock Fest at Rhonda's Speak Easy, 212 Cunningham Drive. Music starts at 5 p.m., featuring "Small Change," "Going Nowhere," "Toxic Brew," "Board of Directors" and "Top Down." Admission is $15 or $10 plus 2 cans of food for the Food Bank.
Sunday
Orpheum Film Series showing of Casablanca at 1 and 4 p.m. The Sioux City Public Museum will have a special display of WWII artifacts in the lobby of the theatre. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for students.
Jaycees Mud Drag races at the Jaycees Fairgrounds in southern Hawarden. Races start at 2 p.m. Visit their website at www.hawardenjaycees.org/index.html
