OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - Nebraska health officials say at least four areas of the state are experiencing outbreaks of swine flu, and the disease is present statewide.
Nebraska Health and Human Services spokeswoman Marla Augustine says outbreaks of swine flu have been reported near Omaha, Crete, Chadron and Loup City.
The swine flu virus can cause a fever of more than 100 degrees, body aches, coughing, a sore throat, respiratory congestion and, in some cases, vomiting and diarrhea. And three deaths in Nebraska have been linked to the swine flu.
Health officials advise only those who are moderately or severely ill or someone with underlying medical conditions see a doctor. Most people who get the virus can recover on their own.
