REMBRANDT, Iowa (KTIV) -- A Rembrandt, Iowa man has been charged in a traffic accident that killed his 10-year old son earlier this summer.
39-year old Matthew Wrather faces three felony charges, including Homicide by Motor Vehicle and Child Endangerment.
On July 26th, Wrather was driving a car that crossed the center line of Highway 71 near Sioux Rapids and collided head-on with a van.
Wrather's son, Gavin, was killed in the collision.
He had been sitting in the car's front seat and was not wearing a seatbelt.
The van driver, 48-year old Anthony Brockovec of Ruthven, suffered serious injuries in the crash.
The Iowa State Patrol says Matthew Wrather was driving while intoxicated and had a suspended driver's license, no liability insurance and fraudulent registration.
He's being held in the Buena Vista County jail.
