OCHEYEDAN, Iowa (KTIV) - A northwest Iowa lawmaker has joined an effort to "draft" Terry Branstad into Iowa's 2010 gubernatorial race.
State Senator David Johnson, of Ocheyedan, says Iowa needs "real, experienced leadership" to make Iowa a place that families and businesses can once again call home.
Johnson, who's a Republican, says he's happy to put his support behind the Draft Branstad effort. "As a dedicated public servant," Johnson said, "he helped Iowa once before, and I believe he can help Iowa again."
Branstad served 4 terms as Iowa's governor, from 1982 to 1998.
