WEEPING WATER, Neb. (AP) - Federal stimulus money is headed to Weeping Water as a $500,000 loan.
A news release from the office of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack says the money will go to the Weeping Water community building foundation and is part of $30 million granted to 36 facilities across the country.
Brian Gegg is president of the building foundation board. He says the loan will help the foundation complete the first phase of renovations to the city's old auditorium.
New city offices and a community center are part of the first phase, which will cost about $537,000. Work is expected to be finished in February.
Gegg says the second phase requires $400,000 more in donations, maybe less. It will include a senior citizens center and a library.
