Sioux City, IA (KTIV) -A murder victim from South Sioux City, Nebraska is being remembered. Thursday would have been Raina Hulit's 17th birthday.
She was shot and killed in January of 2008 and was missing for about a week before her body was found in a wooded area near Stone State Park.
Her parents, Ed and Lucinda Hulit, say they choose to honor and remember her life, not the loss.
In honor of what would have been her birthday they plan to have a community dinner.
"Everyday we think of what could have been, what should have been. We'll have a birthday party for her every year, " said Ed Hulit, Raina's Father.
A memorial dinner is being held for Raina on Saturday, October 24th, at the Blackhawk Community Center in Winnebago, Nebraska.
Matthew Hettinger is serving 45-years in prison for the murder.
