GAYVILLE, S.D. (AP) - A South Dakota Highway Patrol officer suffered minor injuries when his patrol car collided with a semi near Gayville.
The Yankton County sheriff's office says 30-year-old John Himes of Yankton stopped at the intersection of state Highway 50 and 451st Avenue and waited for traffic to pass. He did not see a westbound semi and pulled into its path, causing the semi to strike the rear of the patrol car.
Himes was taken to a local hospital following the 10 a.m. Thursday crash. No other injuries were reported.
The sheriff's office says Himes was cited for failure to stop.
