DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - U.S. Attorney Matthew G. Whitaker says a 33-year-old man has appeared before a federal magistrate in Des Moines on charges stemming from four recent bank robberies in Iowa.
Jason Lee Bowers, whose last known address was in South Amana, made his appearance Monday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Ross A. Walters.
Authorities say Bowers was arrested Friday after an extensive manhunt. H is accused of the Oct. 9 robbery of the South Story Bank in Slater, the Oct. 16 robbery of the Farmers & Merchants Bank in St. Charles, the Oct. 17 robbery of the Peoples Bank & Trust in Rippey, and the robbery of the First Trust Savings Bank in Oxford on Oct. 21.
