LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Nebraska lawmakers will learn how much they'll have to slash from the budget during a meeting of economic forecasters.
The economic-forecasting board was scheduled to meet Tuesday afternoon to revise state-revenue projections that form the baseline for the state budget. Tax revenues have been falling below estimates and the board is expected to make a downward revision to its previously approved projections.
Lawmakers and Gov. Dave Heineman will use the new, revised projections when making changes to the budget during a special legislative session expected to begin Nov. 4.
Earlier this month, Heineman said he would call a special session after a report showed that tax revenues fell about $40 million below projections in September.
