MOUNT RUSHMORE NATIONAL MEMORIAL, S.D. (AP) - Severe weather and deteriorating road conditions have forced the temporary closure of the Mount Rushmore National Memorial.
Mount Rushmore superintendent Gerard Baker says the information center, visitors center and administration support area, a gift shop, cafe and parking areas closed Thursday afternoon. Baker said they likely would reopen Friday, weather permitting.
A storm was moving through the area Thursday, bringing snow, gusty winds and blustery conditions.
