SIOUX CITY, Iow (KTIV) -- Sioux City has some green - as in dollars - to help local businesses looking to do just that, go green.
Sioux City plans to establish a revolving loan fund for energy efficient projects.
With over $200,000 in federal grant money, the city will be able to make loans of up to $25,000 and rebates of up to $2,500 to companies purchasing energy efficient equipment.
"An example would be, a business that is building a new building and wants to put some of the newly available green technologies in that building," said Marty Dougherty, Sioux City Economic Development Director, "or it has an existing building that they're upgrading their heating or ventilating, air conditioning equipment. They'd be eligible for that."
Sioux City will get an additional $600,000 from the same grant to synchronize stop lights in four main areas of the city.
