PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - The South Dakota Department of Corrections says a state prison inmate has died.
A news release says 75-year-old Leland Kagy died Tuesday morning at the state prison in Springfield.
Kagy was serving a 25-year sentence out of Lawrence County for sexual contact with a child under the age of 16.
The department says an autopsy will be conducted. The state Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the death, as is standard procedure when an inmate dies.
