
Sergeant Bluff, Iowa (KTIV) - At a time when many companies are laying off workers, word that a company located in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa plans to hire 300 people.
Stream Global Services announced an aggressive hiring campaign on Wednesday with a goal of hiring 300 people immediately. The service center in Sergeant Bluff handles inbound customer service and technical support calls for several leading and globally recognized corporations.
Stream says it is offering customer service jobs as well as a substantial number of supervisory and managerial positions.
Stream Global Services has 50 of what it calls "solution centers" in 22 countries, supporting 34 different languages. Since it first set up shop in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa three years ago it's grown the workforce. It formally opened the Sergeant Bluff call center in October, 2006.
The company moved into a building that for years had been home to a call center for MCI which closed after being bought out by Verizon.
Stream specializes in customer service for Fortune 1000 companies including Sirius-XM Satellite Radio, which has been a Stream customer since it opened.
The call center takes activation calls for new Sirius-XM satellite radio subscribers.
Since beginning operations in the Sioux City metro area, Stream has grown to employ approximately 800 people in Sergeant Bluff. This latest hiring initiative will bring the center to over 1,000 employees.
