OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - Sentencing is set for Jan. 21 for a man convicted of helping former Nebraska football player Thunder Collins kill a suspected drug dealer.
Twenty-1-year-old Karnell Burton faces up to 240 years in prison.
In October, a Douglas County jury found him guilty on manslaughter, attempted murder, first-degree assault and weapons counts.
The charges stem from his role in a September 2008 shooting that left a man dead and another injured.
Collins was convicted of first-degree murder in August.
Prosecutors have argued the shooting was the result of a botched drug deal. They described Collins as the mastermind behind a plan to rob the two men, who'd traveled from California.
