LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Lincoln police say an 18-year-old man shot by an officer this weekend is in stable condition.

Police Chief Tom Casady said Sunday that Brian Hassenplug was shot in the arm about 5:30 p.m. Saturday after he allegedly tried to run over the officer and rammed two parked vehicles, including a squad car. Hassenplug fled but was caught later in the evening.

Police say the officer had been responding to a disturbance outside some Lincoln apartments when two vehicles sped off.

Hassenplug was arrested on a felony warrant from Lancaster County for alleged possession of burglary tools. He was also arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property and a parole violation.
