SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - The Minnehaha County Commission has voted to eliminate a tax increment financing district that was designed to help a planned ethanol plant near Sherman.
The commission voted unanimously on Tuesday to dissolve the special district, which would have postponed the collection of property taxes.
The move comes after investors in the proposed Buffalo Ridge plant announced they no longer intend to build it. Two years ago, developers said the plant would produce 50 million gallons of ethanol a year.
