SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - The keynote speaker for this year's South Dakota Law Enforcement Appreciation Dinner and Children's Charity is retired Marine Lt. Col. Oliver North.
North, a decorated combat veteran, speaks at the Wednesday night event.
He was in the national spotlight in the 1980s during the Iran-Contra Affair. Since then, North has written 12 best-selling books.
About 1,600 people are expected to attend the event. Half will be law enforcement officers from across South Dakota.
