PAWNEE CITY, Neb. (AP) - Authorities say a man convicted of killing a Pawnee City farmer faces additional jail time for robbing a bank in a small southeast Nebraska town.
Patrick Schroeder is serving life in prison for the April 2006 beating death of 75-year-old Kenneth Albers. Schroeder's appeal in that case is pending before the Nebraska Supreme Court.
Authorities say Schroeder requested a meeting last year with the FBI and confessed to robbing the Bank of Steinauer at gunpoint in January 2006. He pleaded guilty to robbery in September in a deal with prosecutors to drop a weapons charge.
U.S. District Judge Richard Kopf said in accepting Schroeder's plea that he plans to sentence Schroeder to nine years and three months in federal prison at the Dec. 2 sentencing.
