OSHA to investigate construction death

Associated Press - November 19, 2009 10:45 AM ET

DAKOTA DUNES, S.D. (AP) - The Occupational Safety and Health Administration area office in Bismarck, N.D., says it will investigate a death at a construction site in southeastern South Dakota.

The probe will determine whether negligence contributed to the death of 27-year-old Gabe Koenigsfeld.

Authorities say Koenigsfeld died Tuesday morning when an embankment caved in on him at the work site in Dakota Dunes, just south of Sioux Falls.

Koenigsfeld worked for J&J Concrete Inc., based in Tea. Family members say he and his wife, Stephanie, were expecting their first child.
