Sioux Center, Iowa (KTIV) - A 78-year old Sioux Center, Iowa man is dead after being pulled from a lake located three miles east of town.
The man was found about eight Monday night at the Sandy Hollow Campground area where authorities say he had been fishing.
The man had apparently gone out in the early afternoon, but when he didn't return home, authorities were notified. They found articles of clothing by the lake.
Sioux County Sheriff Dan Altena says emergency personnel performed CPR on-site and then the man was taken to the hospital where they tried to resuscitate him for nearly an hour.
He was pronounced dead at around nine Monday night.
Altena says foul play is not suspected.
"It looked like from the scene that he may have just been sitting along side the pond doing some fishing. Emergency personnel here aren't sure if he had a heart attack at that time or if he fell in the water and drown. Everything looks normal to us," said Sheriff Dan Altena.
The name of the victim has not been released, pending notification of family members.
