Sioux City, Iowa (KTIV) - Some Sioux City students celebrated Thanksgiving a little early with a feast of their own on Wednesday.
"My favorite thing was the beef jerky!" said one student.
Also on the menu for third-graders at Joy Elementary, grapes, popcorn and apples. They are things they believe the original pilgrims could have had on their plates for the first Thanksgiving.
But, the "mini-feast" also gave these kids a chance to reflect on what they're thankful for, this year.
"I'm thankful for my family and friends."
"I'm thankful for my family and friends, and everyone I know."
The kids also got to decorate their own placemats to take home and enjoy with Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday.
