Iowa man gets 6 years for attacking co-worker

Associated Press - November 28, 2009 6:34 PM ET

BURLINGTON, Iowa (AP) - A 42-year-old Burlington man has been sentenced to six years in prison for attacking a co-worker in a fight over a power tool.

Jason Lee Stott was convicted of assault causing bodily injury and second-degree harassment.

As part of his sentence, Stott was also ordered not to have contact with the victim, 52-year-old Rex Windle, also of Burlington.

Prosecutors alleged that Stott confronted Windle at Burlington Memorial Auditorium last September and accused him of stealing a power drill.

Windle testified that Stott put him in a choke hold and swung him around, causing his hip to hit a metal railing and break.

Windle says the incident has left him with limited mobility.
