BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) - Brookings Mayor Tim Reed says his position with the South Dakota State University Foundation does not present a conflict of interest when it comes to city business related to SDSU.
Reed brought up the topic in response to what he said were questions raised by some residents.
Reed works as a development director for the foundation, helping to raise money for the SDSU College of Engineering from people and businesses. He says any money requests to the city would come from the university, to which he does not directly report.
City Attorney Steve Britzman says he agrees with Reed that there is no conflict of interest.
