DES MOINES, Iowa. (KTIV)--Attorney General Tom Miller announced Wednesday he is filing lawsuits in six counties to enforce Iowa's One Call Statute.
The lawsuit stems from companies excavating in the vicinity of natural gas pipelines without first providing notice of the digs and having the pipelines located and marked by "One Call" employees.
Solsma Brothers Incorporated was one company named in the suit, after workers allegedly severed a natural gas line in Sioux County, Iowa causing the town of Newkirk to lose gas service for several hours.
Under the proposed consent decree, Solsma Brothers would pay a $7,000 civil penalty.
