SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -- The Siouxland Chapter of March of Dimes March for Babies walk is held in April but Thursday a kick-off event was held trying to raise awareness and recruit folks to participate.
Organizers say they are looking for teams and captains to raise money and walk for babies.
They are encouraging people to bring their families and friends to participate in April.
Last year, they raised over $100,000 and are hoping to raise more this year to help babies.
"The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature births and mortality and what we are doing is trying to give all babies a healthy start in life," said Jill Wooster, March of Dimes Division Director.
News Channel Four's Chief Meteorologist, Ron Demers, was the master of ceremonies for Thursday kick-off.
