Congressman King prepares for Conservative Principles Conference
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -- Congressman Steve King promises a "full-spectrum conservative message" at his "Conservative Principles Conference" in Des Moines.
It'll feature several potential presidential candidates, including U.S. Senator Jim DeMint, Congressman Michele Bachmann, and Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour to name a few.
King hopes the conference will help the GOP set the platform for the next president of the United States.
"The idea is to begin this discussion, to set the debate, which can set the agenda, which will establish the destiny of the United States. That comes with the next president, who will carry that with him or her," said Rep. King.
If nothing else, King wants to preserve Iowa's first-in-the-nation caucus status.
King's "Conservative Principles Conference" starts at nine Saturday morning at the Downtown Des Moines Marriott.
