The Roth Industrial Park will soon be home to a 60 million gallon biodiesel facility. A project of Natural Innovative Renewable Energy of Akron Iowa.
"We look forward to being everyone's neighbors here in South Sioux City. I think we have something to offer the community," Jim Venner, President Ag Visions Enterprises said. "Hopefully, it will be as successful as we think."
Officials say biodiesel is a non-toxic, biodegradable diesel fuel replacement that is from agricultural fats and oils. The industry is currently made up of numerous plants of various sizes, and officials say has shown steady growth over the last 15 years.
"We want to be out in front and be a leader in terms of biodiesel production, and that's the opportunity we have today," Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman said.
Natural Innovative Renewable Energy anticipates teaming up with beef products incorporated or BPI. Together they're expected to construct a facility that'll have the ability to utilize multiple feedstocks and produce millions of gallons of biodiesel as well as 55 million gallons of Glycerin. It's also anticipated BPI will be one of the sources of feedstock for the facility.
"They were interested in our feedstock because of its qualities and it's going to be the base, but there's other feedstocks in this area," Eldon Roth, BPI CEO said.
As a result of the new growth thirty-six new jobs are expected to be created in the South Sioux City area. The company also plans to spend tens of millions of dollars to build their facility.
