Iowa State is looking for something different as they open the season on Saturday against 3-time defending FCS champion North Dakota State.A year ago, the Cyclones opened the season with a 28-20 loss to Northern Iowa. Niang was one of 30 collegiate players invited to this year's camp.The junior to be will be they Cyclone's leading returning scorer after averaging 16.7 points per game last season. ISU's Thomas arrested for OWI

Iowa State freshman Matt Thomas was arrested by Ames police late Friday night and was charged with operating while intoxicated. Thomas is the second ISU player to be charged this spring. Ames police arrested Abdel Nader in April. He has since pleaded not guilty and will have a court date next month.Thomas, 19, issued an apology on Saturday via his twitter account.
