PAULLINA, Iowa (KTIV) -- Iowa's Department of Natural Resources is trying to figure out how an invasive water plant species made its way into a Northwest Iowa lake.
Left untreated, the Eurasian Water-milfoil could quickly take over Mill Creek Lake in Paullina.
Mike Hawkins with the Iowa DNR says this species has a history of causing ecological damage, leaving behind predators and disease if gone unchecked.
Because of Paullina's proximity to the Iowa Great Lakes, the DNR will take an aggressive approach to getting rid of the plant next spring.
