And the Big Sioux Chapter wants to make all of us aware that alzheimer's and dementia affects so many in the community.
"Every 70 seconds somebody is diagnosed with alzheimer's or some form of dementia. It's a really big problem that's progressing aggressively not just here but everywhere. So we would like to let those in the community know, rather it's here in Sioux City or Northwest Iowa, that we are here, we are here to help," said Eukie Okwumuo, Resource Development Director.
Thursday, the Scottish Rite presented a check to the Alzheimer's Association.
The $5,000 will help pay for a secure fence for clients who use the Senior Day Program.
The program helps those with alzheimer's or dementia socialize, do activities and exercise in a safe and fun environment.
