The American flag stands for our nation's deepest values, for our freedom to live together as individuals said one Siouxlander recently.
Sunday afternoon at the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center a new flag was lifted high into the sky, as an exhibit on "Old Glory" was dedicated.
The permanent exhibit in the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center and adjoining Betty Strong Encounter Center in Sioux City, is called "Many people, One Flag."
Sunday's dedication included a historic flag presentation by the honor guard of the 185th Air Refueling Wing, but it was really about taking time out to pay tribute to the red, white, and blue.
"There is perhaps no symbol that brings us together like our flag and all of the values it embodies," said Director of The Lewis And Clark Interpretive Center Marcia Poole.
Many People One Flag comprises four panels, each illuminating a meaning symbolized by the flag.
Those include: military service, the evolution of the official design, the year each state was admitted to the union, and the star spangled banner.
