Sentencing for former councilman caught with pot

SPENCER, Iowa (KTIV) -- A former Everly, Iowa councilman charged with possession of marijuana, was sentenced today in Clay County court.

Forty-six-year-old Stephen Rank stepped down from the council after his May 11th arrest. Rank said his arrest had become a "distraction" to the council.

Today, Rank was fined and had his driver's license suspended. Rank says he has Crohn's Disease and used the marijuana to treat it.
