SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -- The City of Sioux City is adopting a program called "Safe Approach."
One of the components under the campaign is called Drive Rite, which stands for "Red Light Intersection Traffic Enforcement," also known as the red light cameras. The goal is to make those who drive and ride on Sioux City streets safer.
Right now, the cameras are still in the installation phase, but starting on June 24, the city will start the warning violation period.
"The warning violation period will be until the 24th of July, and then we'll go ahead and start issuing full force violations," Captain Mel Williams.
In total, there are eight approaches where cameras are set up. The cameras are designed to catch red light runners.
