SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -- Sioux Gateway Airport is set to get a major face lift, but the project is still waiting for nearly $4 million in stimulus funding to move ahead.
City leaders awarded the contract for construction and accepted bids at Monday night's meeting. Officials say they should know within a few weeks from the Federal Aviation Administration if the airport will get the grant money.
"Basically we're all set to go on our end, but we're still waiting for final approval on the grant through the FAA, from the Kansas City office," said Airport Transit Fleet Director Curt Miller.
The project includes a canopy for loading and unloading luggage, a new restaurant and bathrooms. Construction should take about a year.
