Sioux City, IOWA (KTIV) - A pilot program that helps parents involved in drug or alcohol abuse keep their families together is now helping 15 families.
The program is called "Family Drug Court" and it offers extra services to help parents stay sober or drug-free so they can parent their children.
Family Drug Court participants normally meet weekly with a support group of professionals to help keep them on the right track.
Attorney, Frank Cleary says sometimes there are challenges but the program is ultimately helping families stay together.
"The number one benefit to this program is that all of the people involved with the case collaborate, they talk to each other on cases so they know where so they know where any participant in the program is and everybody is pretty much on the same page," said, Frank Cleary, Attorney.
The pilot program was started last August and it's funded for a total of three years currently.
